The first Metal Gear Solid game was released on July 13, 1987. Yesterday, publisher Konami announced that Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, the two oldest games in the series, will be resold as part of its 35th anniversary celebrations. Previously, these games were removed from sale for different reasons.

Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 will go on sale again
MGS 2 and 3 were taken down in late 2021 because they used a number of licensed footage, including news footage of U.S. president John F. Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Konami has announced that this situation is temporary and that the games will return, although they have not yet given a date. The announcement stated:
“Today is the 35th anniversary of the #METALGEAR series! Thank you to everyone who has loved and celebrated the series so far. We ask for your patience as preparations continue to make the temporarily removed games available again.”
Of course, in this case, it may come to mind that these images are either relicensed or cut and removed. No announcement has yet been made from them about this. Whatever the solution, it will be good news for fans of the series that Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 are returning. MGS 2 was first released in 2001, followed by MGS3: Snake Eater in 2004. It’s not yet clear when the games will return to the store, but know that we’ll try to let you know as quickly as possible.
