Metroid Dread’s developer MercurySteam has announced that it is developing third-person action RYO set in the dark fantasy world. The early budget for the game, codenamed Project Iron, was set at $27 million.
Founded in 2002, MercurySteam has previously developed Metroid: Samus Returns and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The studio’s newest game, Metroid Dread, was praised by all critics and became one of the most successful Switch games of the year.
505 Games will release the game, while THE IP rights will be held by Digital Bros., which owns 505 Games in addition to MercurySteam.
This new game will probably be exclusive to switch again, but we shouldn’t be too specific until the platforms are announced.
