Since the release of the PlayStation 5, Sony’s first-party gaming series have become a mix of intergenerational (PS4-PS5) releases. This looks like it’s going to go on for a while.
PS5 exclusive games include Demon’s Souls, Returnal and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, while intergenerational games include Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West, God of War sequel and Gran Turismo 7.
Michael Pachter, analyst at Wedbush Securities, said: “Sony will continue to release intergenerational productions until 2023. Over time, it will make more games exclusive to PS5.”
Pachter added: “If Sony wants to sell 20 million units in big console-specific games, it has to bring it to old and new consoles. That’s why I think they will support PS4 by 2023.”
