YthMicrosoft and developer Asobo Studio have released version 1.16.2.0 patch for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The patch halves the size of the game to download. Previously over 170GB, the game now has a download size of 83GB.
Microsoft has not fully explained how it did this. He just noted that they’ve made some optimizations.
Weather data bandwidth usage has also been reduced, which can reflect positively on frame rate. The game uses a variety of streaming data to provide real weather, air traffic and satellite information, and the operation of all of them can affect frame rate, especially if downloads are performed in the background or programs such as Netflix are open.
The patch also brings some changes to navigation, weather and aircraft and includes bug fixes. Check out the full patch notes here.
Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available on PC. It’s coming to Xbox Series this summer.
