Microsoft Flight Simulator, a simulation wonder that came out of the hands of Microsoft and Asobo and was one of the most vocal games of the past year, was notable not only for its beauty, but also for the huge storage it required. Downloading the game and its additional packages needed about 17 GB, but the last patch released managed to reduce the size of all files by more than half.
Now you only need to download 81 GB instead of 170 GB when downloading the whole game from Steam, which means almost 90 GB less file transfer.
Microsoft did not disclose what it achieved by changing it, saying only that “we have made some optimizations for the initial download size of the game.” Now they have managed to halve the size of the game as if they had done magic in an optimization.
This patch also reduced the bandwidth usage of weather data, which means that performance for the game has improved somewhat. Flight Simulator renders data such as air traffic, satellite information, weather information in real time, creating the gaming world, which of course has some impact on performance.
