According to a report by Reuters that uses multiple sources, Microsoft wants to invest more in the Chinese video game industry. This is partly due to the success of Genshin Impact, which is currently available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, iOS, and Android.
According to sources, Sony and Microsoft are considering adding the Chinese developers’ games to Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus. Both sources claim that Microsoft has formed a team to research Chinese games. Microsoft is also considering adding games from independent studios by offering big money.
Microsoft recently struck a deal with NetEase, the second-largest Chinese gaming company, for the battle royale game Naraka: Bladepoint. According to this agreement, the game was released on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass last June. The game has sold more than 10 million copies with a price tag of $20.
