Contrary to the criticism of Blizzard president Mike Ybarra, Diablo seems to be very pleased with Immortal’s micropayments. Ybarra says that this allows them to offer a free Diablo experience to millions of players.
“When we think about monetizing, our idea at the top level of this is, how can we offer hundreds of millions of people a free Diablo experience and play 99.5% of everything in the game? was to find the answer to your question,” says Ybarra.
“The monetization in the game comes at the end game. Our philosophy here was that hundreds of millions of players could play the main story without paying any money. That way, I think this is good in terms of being an introduction to Diablo,” said the president of Blizzard.
Of course, he can’t help but know that the real thing about a Diablo game is the end game. After all, Diablo is not a game that is played once and released, but the real game starts when the story ends or reaches the maximum level.
Ybarra is happy because the game makes Blizzard over $1 million almost every day. The fact that the user rating in Metacritic is one of the lowest in Blizzard history with 0.4 does not worry anyone.
