According to Deadline reports, the mobile game Minion Rush has reached 1 billion downloads on all platforms. It won the title of the first game to reach a record download based on a movie. Minion Rush has thus joined other major mobile games with more than a billion downloads, including Pokemon Go and PUBG Mobile, which reached a milestone earlier in the year.
Minion Rush was first released in 2013 by developer Gameloft in collaboration with Illumination, Universal Games and Digital Platforms. Although it is over seven years old, new updates and content have been added to the game continuously. Thus, it continued to be popular.
Gameloft has launched a new Celebratory Event for 1 billion downloads. If players can collect 33 billion bananas during the event, a special costume will be unveiled. The event also heralds the arrival of two new playable Petite Bob and Stuart.
