Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of the Souls series; Hidetaka Miyazaki, director of Elden Ring; admitted that Sony’s highly successful Demon;s Souls Remake put pressure on the Elden Ring team. The team did everything they could to make Elden Ring visually superior.
Demon;s Souls Remake, developed by Bluepoint, has become one of the most acclaimed games of 2020, still a game of visual quality that is finger pointed at for the next generation of consoles. However, Miyazaki says he still doesn’t play Demon;s Souls Remake. I thought he’d at least be curious and looking, so I thought he’d like to see what a new version of a play he’s directing looks like. I was wrong:)
Miyazaki responded to a question about whether the graphic quality of Demon;s Souls was a pressure element in the Elden Ring team, saying, “My god, our graphics team felt this pressure more than anyone else.”
“Not just for Elden Ring, but for all the games we make. Graphics are not our top priority, what we want from the graphics department varies according to the requirements of the game and takes less priority over other development elements. But our graphics team worked incredibly hard for Elden Ring,” says Miyazaki.
