Souls games, which now create their own genre, often come up with difficulties. Although genre-loving players are familiar with this feeling of struggle, there are also many players who quit the game due to this difficulty. Although it is naturally open world, this feeling of zodiacness came up once again with the release of Elden Ring. Elden Ring director Miyazaki, who sees this as the identity of the studio, made some statements about the subject.
Miyazaki talks about Eden Ring challenge
In an interview with the New yorker site, Miyazaki stated: “I apologize to anyone who feels there is so much to overcome in my games. I just want as many players as possible to experience the joy of overcoming adversity. We always try to improve, but what makes sense of the experience, especially in our games, is difficulty. So it’s not something we’re willing to leave right now. It’s our identity.’When I play these games, that’s the way I want to die – in a fun or interesting way, or in a way that’s a story I can share.’ Death and rebirth, try and overcome – we want this cycle to be fun. Death in life is a terrible thing. There may be something else in the game.”
