In March of this year, CD Projekt RED announced that the next game in The Witcher series was in development. In addition, REDengine will be replaced by the Unreal Engine 5 engine.
Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt Group, said he is pleased with the progress in the game and that with the use of Unreal Engine 5, noticeable changes and improvements have been included.
Kicinski also said that there are more than 100 employees working on the new game of The Witcher series. Since the majority of the CD Projekt RED team is focused on the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, it will take some time for The Witcher to debut.
CD Projekt RED is developing the new Witcher game with the Unreal Engine 5 engine. This is one of the elements that reveals the technical development and future potential of Unreal Engine 5. It’s also the start of a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. CD Projekt RED will try to adapt UE5 to the open-world experience. In doing so, Epic Games will work closely with developers.
On the other hand, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Complete Edition will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles in Q4 2022.
