Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the past year came from mortal kombat. The film, which was also shown on the same day as the warner brothers’ HBO Max promotion, upset fans and moviegoers. So much so that there was no Mortal Kombat in a movie called Mortal Kombat, the film that ended before the tournament was completely satisfactory. However, this will not have bothered New Line much, as preparations for the sequel have begun. The new film will be written by Jeremy Slater, who also wrote Moon Knight, Deadline first reported.
For Slater, who previously led The Umbrella Academy, mortal kombat looks set to be a different vibe. Mortal Kombat, the legendary fighting game series from Ed Boon and John Tobias, was previously adapted for the screen in the 90s but again ended in disappointment. The first film was starring Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee and Josh Lawson. However, the only memorable character in the film was Sub-Zero. Perhaps the new film sheds some light on the next generation of Scorpion-Sub Zero competition with a big tournament, and most importantly, johnny cage; An official release date for Mortal Kombat 2 has not yet been announced.
