Nacon announced it would buy Daedalic Entertainment in a €53 million (about $60 million) deal scheduled for later this year. Nacon and Daedalic Entertainment had already formed a partnership for the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. With this sale, Nacon will incorporate several IPs and provide all kinds of support at Daedalic Entertainment.
Daedalic Entertainment was founded in Hamburg, Germany in 2007. The studio released more than 90 plays and reached 78 employees. Daedalic developed the Deponia series, Shadow Tactics, Blackguards, The Whispered World and more.
Alain Falc, president and CEO of Nacon, said of the acquisition: “Through our current collaboration at Gollum, Nacon and Daedalic set out to provide players with a unique experience. We knew that both studios shared the same values and the same goals. Therefore, it seemed logical to go further together and we are extremely pleased with this purchase. This represents an important step in Nacon’s strategy.”
