NetEase Games has announced the acquisition of Quantic Dream, the French-based developer of Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain.
Quantic Dream, the Chinese company’s first studio in Europe, will benefit from NetEase’s game development side. Quantic Dream will continue to create and publish games for all platforms. It will also run its business independently, focusing on supporting and publishing third-party games.
William Dining, CEO and Chief Executive Officer of NetEase, said in a press release: “Our common goal with Quantic Dream is to achieve exciting new growth by moving forward with mutual trust and respect. We are excited about this development. NetEase will help Quantic Dream unleash its full potential. Quantic Dream’s creativity and exceptional storytelling will combine with NetEase’s powerful resources and capabilities. In this way, we will relive the interactive entertainment experience for players worldwide.”
Quantic Dream is currently developing Star Wars Eclipse for unspecified platforms.
