As reported by GamesIndustry, NetEase has invested millions of dollars (reportedly more than a million) in Polish VR studio Something Random. With this investment, NetEase enters the Polish market for the first time.
The Something Random studio was founded in 2021 by former Superhot developers such as Cezary Skorupka, Jakub Witczak, Anna Zurawicz-Skorupka and Piotr Gogus.
The new VR studio plans to release its first game in 2023. The studio is already working on two VR games, including a first-person shooter.
Skorupka, CEO of Something Random, said: “The world of VR games has a very dynamic future and a lot of potential in it. Virtual reality is an area where we have experience. This investment from NetEase not only recognises our achievements so far, but above all paves the way for the games we are currently working on.”
NetEase, on the other hand, is a Chinese internet company and video game publisher. NetEase has pioneered the release of many games such as Knives Out, LifeAfter, Dead by Daylight Mobile, and EVE Echoes.
