It feels strange that the cartoons/animes we watched as children were a live TV series/movie at some point. Personally, I wasn’t very familiar with the anime side of it, but I was aware of the Cowboy Bebop legend. From Netflix’s announcement of the series to the release of the first season, good messages were always trending on social media. The first season of the show aired, 10 episodes were unveiled, and these positive messages were suddenly replaced by criticism and frustration. But are these messages enough to cancel a series? It’s a whole other matter of debate.
The cancellation, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, was hardly surprising. Because there’s a strange statistic. Netflix has only a percentage rate of renewing second or subsequent seasons for any series! So four out of 10 shows don’t get a chance to go on. Well, in a great cultural capitalism, we can call it a kind of natural selection, but still, these cancellations are definitely some people’s favorite shows.
Cowboy Bebop’s original annos, which joined the caravan of cancelled series, lasted only one season. Knockin was released in 2001. He has a film called On Heaven;s Door. We all have favorite shows on Netflix or other streaming services. I hope I don’t have to write about the Mandalorian’s cancellation in the coming days.
