After Netflix lost a significant amount of subscribers for the first time, management was expected to make moves to reverse the wind, one of which was to offer users a cheaper, alternative plan.
Netflix’s cheaper, ad-backed plan will be available to users before the end of this year, The New York Times reported.
There’s no price information yet, but according to the article, Netflix’s goal is to launch this new plan in the last three months of the year. It is likely that several steps will be taken to prevent password sharing.
In March, Netflix CFO Spencer Neumann said they were not considering offering an ad-supported plan, but subsequent reports of casualties seem to have completely changed things.
In April, Netflix subscription fees were raised once again, and prices were as follows:
- Basic Package – 38 TL
- Standard Package – 58 TL
- Special Package – 78 TL
Amazon Prime is $7.9 per month, Disney Plus is $35 per month ($23 per month with a dating campaign), while HBO Max is not yet available. Even Netflix’s Basic Pack remains expensive compared to its competitors.
