According to a Bloomberg report, 100,000 people have been diagnosed with the Netflix is set to take over the gaming industry after its TV and film business. For this, a man who has previously worked at Electronic Arts and Facebook is preparing to add Mike Verdu to his staff.
Mike Verdu will serve as vice president of game development at Netflix. Verdu was previously vice president of Facebook and was responsible for the development of a variety of content for Oculus, especially games. Now it seems it’s time to develop games for Netflix.
According to Bloomberg’s sources; Starting next year, games will be included in the content offered to subscribers by Netflix, and there will be no additional charges for these content. At least that’s what’s planned for now. The same source said the game development team would be formed in the coming months. In this case, we can say that next year will be a very optimistic date for the game they have developed themselves, it is likely that they will start with games developed by different companies and then develop their own games.
Netflix aims to expand its user pool and compete with other similar streaming platforms, and is trying alternative ways to do so. It’s hard to say at this point how good they’re going to be at this. Especially with an example like Amazon in front of us, we shouldn’t raise expectations too much.
It’s nice to have different initiatives like this, but of course there’s the subscription system part. Who’s going to use so many subscription systems; Who’s going to follow which one, how, and that’s a mystery:) At the very least, it is an advantage that no additional fees will be charged. I hope they don’t change their minds about it.
