Jeff Grubb said in the new Giant Bomb video that NetherRealm Studios is currently working on Mortal Kombat 12. NetherRealm prioritized mortal kombat series over Injustice series because of the uncertainty of the future with WB Games.
It makes sense to develop Mortal Kombat 12 for NetherRealm because they know the game will make money and sell a lot, grubb says: “Mortal Kombat 11 was great, it still does well, but when Mortal Kombat 12 comes out, it will sell well and do well”
He also said that if WB Games and NetherRealm were to break down, the possibility of licensing problems with the use of characters like Batman or Superman would be eliminated.
NetherRealm appeared with Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019, while Injustice 2 was released in 2017. Logically, the new Injustice game was supposed to be next, but the uncertainty of WB Games must have changed the plans.
