New Hand Ring patch will be a challenge for speedrun lovers
Elden Ring’s first big patch aimed to make certain styles of gameplay easier and some approaches more difficult. The new patch extends the strengthening time and makes it easier to strengthen weapons, while weapons such as the Icerind Hatchet and Mimic Tear Ash are weakened.
Distortion 2 isn’t the only one bothered by the changes that come with Elden Ring’s new patch. Elajjaz, the publisher of Elden Ring, who tried to make speedruns by killing all the game’s main bosses, expressed his displeasure:
“Miyazaki, what have you done, man? Remembrance (the main bosses in the game) speedruns are no longer possible. I need to find another route.”
In YouTube publisher Syrobe, Elden Ring said the debilitation imposed on Hoarfrost Stomp was “necessary” and would improve his PVP experience, which would “make it harder for speedrunners.”
Despite these debilitating downs, it won’t be long before speedrunner players from one of the game world’s most interesting communities find new routes and methods.
