If we wave our hands these days, we’re hitting a Stephen King adaptation. I’m not complaining about that, of course, especially recent adaptations (Mr. Mercedes, Outsider, Lisey;s Story, etc.) are quite successful. Chapelwaite is also likely to be one of the promising King adaptations with its cast and subject matter.
Set in Maine in the 1850s, the story stars Oscar winners Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire.
The story of the series is inspired by a King short story, Jerusalem;s Lot. This story appeared in King’s 1978 novel Night Shift. This story, which predes the novel Salem;s Lot, was about charles boone, the aristocrat who inherited a mansion. His servant Calvin found a map of a village called Jerusalem;s Lot in a secret compartment of the library, and the two decided to find out where it was.
The series’ synopsis reads: “Set in the 1850s, Captain Charles Boone moves into his ancestral home in the town of Preacher’s Corners with his three children after his wife dies. However, Charles will soon face the dirty secrets of his family and will have to fight to end the darkness that has haunted the Boones lineage for generations.
Chapelwaite by Brothers Peter Filardi and Jason Filardi. The release date is August 22.
