Developer Niantic has announced that mobile augmented reality game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will close next January.
The company said in a blog post that the game will be removed from the Apple App Store, Google Play and Samsung Galaxy Store on December 6, 2021.
The game will be playable until January 31, 2022, before being completely closed.
“Not all games have to last forever,” Niantic said in the post. With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, our goal was to bring the wizarding world to life as millions of players went out and explored their neighborhoods,” he said.
Niantic also announced Transformers: Heavy Metal, a game similar to Pokémon Go, in June. The game is scheduled to be released in late 2021.
