Although Nightdive’s Enhanced Edition, which was presented to the players by recreating the Blade Runner, whose source code was lost, with the help of reverse engineering processes, was an expected game, it was disappointing in the players at first. Differences such as changes in graphics made on behalf of the Enhanced Edition, excessive glare of characters and other objects on the screen, and the disappearance of some details during upscale operations are not to be liked for now.
There are also those who support Nightdive on the Steam forums, as well as those who think that this version of the game is a betrayal of the memory of Blade Runner. Nightdive said that he would do his best to fix the game and bring it closer to the original, and in addition to this, he also offered the Classic version of the game to the players. Let’s add that the current Steam average of the game is at the level of 35%.
“This free update will be installed automatically, and when you run Blade Runner from Steam, you’ll be asked which version you want to play,” says Nightdive.
At the opening, there are now three options: Enhanced Edition, Classic Edition, Classic Edition With Restored Content. In this third, the parts that were not used in the original game have been added. These classic versions of the game run on ScummVM.
I hope Nightdive manages to correct the criticized parts, and one of the most creative adventure games of all time reaches even more people.
