The Nintendo Switch family is about to gain a new member. The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will be released on October 8, giving players another choice on how they want to play the vast library of games on the Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) has a general size similar to the Nintendo Switch console, but has a larger, vibrant 7-inch OLED display with vivid colors and high contrast. The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) also features a spacious and adjustable stand for desktop mode, a new slot with a wired LAN port for online gaming, 64GB of internal storage, and built-in speakers with handheld and enhanced audio for gaming on the desktop. Just like the Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) allows users to play on TV for multiplayer entertainment and share detachable Joy-Con controllers.
And like both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite, the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) can be carried on the go to enjoy versatility that you can play anywhere. A Nintendo Switch Carrying Case and Screen Saver set for the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will also be available.
The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) comes out on October 8th, the same day as metroid Dread, a direct sequel to Metroid Fusion. With a live OLED display, it’ll be even more immersive to embark on intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran’s latest adventure in Metroid Dread.
The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will allow users to experience enhancements in all three game modes:
• TV mode: Insert the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) console into the slot to play Nintendo Switch games on TV. Using the built-in wired LAN port, users can enjoy another way to connect online in TV mode.
• Desktop mode: Turn the stand on the back of the console and use the console’s screen to play multiplayer games using the two joy-con controllers that came with it as soon as you left the box. The wide adjustable stand forms a solid foundation. It also allows players to tilt the console freely with more range in viewing angles, making it easier to see the screen.
• Palm mode: In handheld mode, users can take the console wherever they go and play local * or online ** multiplayer with friends. The 7-inch OLED display provides vivid colors and high contrast.
When the console goes on sale, it will come in two colors:
• Nintendo Switch (OLED model) white set with white Joy-Con controllers, a black main unit and a white slot.
• Nintendo Switch (OLED model) neon red/neon blue set with Neon Red and Neon Blue Joy-Con controllers, a black main unit and a black slot.
All previously released Joy-Con controllers for the Nintendo Switch are compatible with this new model. In addition, the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is compatible with the full library of Nintendo Switch games.
