Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said during a Q&A during the Annual General Assembly that employees were offered a flexible program and that this system would be further developed.
Commenting on the work environment, Furukawa said: “We recognise that in order to achieve a good work-life balance, a programme that meets the needs of each individual must be introduced. We’ve introduced a new program to offer a more comfortable and flexible working environment. In this context, we have created a policy that encourages the use of paid leave. In addition, we have increased the benefits provided to employees on a part-time or temporary basis.
We also removed women’s uniforms a few years ago. Starting this year, we have moved to a more flexible dress code for employees to choose clothing that is appropriate for their workplace. You can also see employees wearing uniforms with the Nintendo logo within our company. We still use these uniforms to remind you that Nintendo is also a company that manufactures products. We also discuss strategies to encourage women’s active participation in the workplace.
