Dying Light 2 developer Techland uploaded an AMA (ask me anything) video to YouTube on Monday in which the game’s lead designer, Tymon Smektala, takes questions from players. One of the highlights of the video was Smektala’s ad point that unlike the first game, there would be no firearms and vehicles in DL2.
Dying Light 2 will not include some features in the first game
According to Smektala, “There are no firearms in the world of Dying Light 2” because civilization has been destroyed and people no longer have the knowledge to create weapons on a professional level. Instead, players have to rely on melee weapons, bows and a handmade shotgun. But although this shotgun can be produced by materials obtained from the surroundings, it will break after a short period of use.
In addition, players will only be able to drive on a specific mission when playing Dying Light 2. Smektala explains the reason for the lack of vehicles by asking players to focus on track mechanics, the DNA of Dying Light. Players will be able to use track mechanics, hooks and parachutes to navigate the city instead of vehicles.
At the same time, one of the new information for Dying Light 2 is the size of its map. Smektala explained that the map will be almost seven square kilometers in size and there will be many “multi-storey buildings” to explore in it. In fact, there will be several bridges and skyscrapers in the game that the player must pass through.
Perhaps one of the issues we are most curious about, the release date, has not yet been clarified. However, the developer team emphasized that it will be released in 2021 in an earlier “developer update” video. What we know about the new game in the series is that it will run in 60FPS and 4K resolution for the next generation of consoles, and the whole story can be played as coop. Dying Light 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. You can also express your opinions about the game in the comments section.
