In a blog post on the official Xbox Wire website, peggy Lo, the leader of the backward compliance program, explained that the firm is now at the limit of what is legally and technically possible when it comes to backward compliance. The 76 games to be added later this week will be the last to be added to the backward compatibility program.
“The inclusion of this latest party of more than 70 games in the backwards program was made possible by the passion and feedback of our player community. Thanks to your demands for certain games and enhancements, we have protected thousands of games from four generations of Xbox by collaborating with the original creators of the games”, says Lo.

But then there was a change of heart, and to date, new games have continued to be added to the compatibility program. Backward compatibility is a great feature, especially for those who want to play old Xbox games on their new consoles, and it’s admirable that Microsoft has protected thousands of games in this way.
