Ubisoft 3D Team chief programmer Stephanie Brenham explained in an interview with WCCFTechthat console versions of Far Cry 6 will not have ray-tracing because they are focused on the 4K/60 fps target on new consoles.
“Ray-tracing is a pc-only feature. On consoles, our goal is to take advantage of new hardware capabilities and optimize performance to reach 4K resolution and 60 fps,” says Brenham.
Similarly, AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution will only be available on the PC version.
The next generation of the game will have better HD textures, more detailed graphics, higher drawing distances; but other than that, it seems that the game will not be much different from the older generation console versions.
Considering the games that feature ray-tracing on PS5 and Xbox Series X, it’s an interesting development that Far Cry 6 has ignored.
Far Cry 6 will be released on PC and older and next generation consoles on October 7.
