As you know, Oxenfree II: Lost Signals was scheduled to be released on Nintendo Switch and PC this year. Night School Studio confirmed today on playstation blog that the game will debut for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in 2022.
The sequel to Oxenfree, the surprise indie game of 2016, is also coming to the Playstation platform
In Oxenfree II, the cast will once again take on the role of Riley Poverly. He’s going to focus entirely on Riley Poverly as a story. Born and raised in Camena to a senior father and a mother who wasn’t there, Riley attempts to find a direction in her life by going back and forth between cities and jobs at the earliest opportunity. A recent change forces him to return to his old hometown and take an entry-level job as an environmental researcher.
Most of the vehicles used in the first Oxenfree game will also be used in Oxenfree II: Lost Signals. The game will revolve around a speech system and a radio that can be tuned to supernatural signals. More information is likely to emerge soon about what will happen if the players go to the old mining town of Garland.
Sean Krankel, co-founder and Studio Director of Night School Studio, spoke about Oxenfree II in a press release provided by Gematsu. “In Oxenfree, our characters were just finishing high school and were entering that period in their lives when they decided who they really wanted to be. Riley lived in that moment a long time ago, and now she’s grappling with the repercussions of her post-teens. Were his choices right for him? Is he really who he wants to be?” he said, giving clues about Oxenfree II. Adam Hines of the developer team said on a PlayStation Blog, “I am very excited to finally announce that Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in high demand.”
According to Hines, Oxenfree II will use most of the same systems as the original game, focus on a robust speech system and interact with your radio, which adapts to supernatural signals. But our main character, Riley, will add a new perspective to the world of Oxenfree.
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals is expected to be released in the fall of this year, although its release date has not yet been confirmed. As the game’s release date approaches, we will continue to get more details about the game’s story and characters.
