Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 is out or when it’s coming out, let’s leave aside the question of who’s developing it; It’s possible we’ll see more Vampire: The Masquerade games before Bloodlines 2.
As you know, there’s an incredible patch of community for bloodlines. This patch, called VTMB Unofficial Patch, completely changes the face of the game, makes it awesome, corrects tons of bugs, and adds new content. It’s almost like bloodlines, turning it into a brand new game.
That’s exactly what Paradox said, “now you can make your own VTMB game.”
Thanks to paradox’s streaming program called Unbound , all independent developers will be able to create games and make money in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe without licensing issues.
Martyna Zych, community manager for World of Darkness, says that “following last year’s Vampire Jam, we realized how eager our community is to create Vampire: The Masquerade games.” “Although we could only give awards to Heartless Lullaby, we knew we needed to create a platform where our community could work on the projects they loved and get the support they needed to succeed.”
Games developed under the Unbound program will only be available on Itch.io. Developers won’t be able to raise money for these games through funding or personal pages, but they will be able to take advantage of platforms covered by the Dark Pack deal, such as Patreon, YouTube and Twitch. The names of the games will not be called Vampire: The Masquerade or World of Darkness and will not count as blood in the World of Darkness universe.
Paradox will receive 33% of the revenue from Unbound games, but in return will have licensed Vampire.
The first six games under the Unbound program are : DESCENT, THE CHANTRY TRIALS, THE GAME OF ELDERS, THE AUTUMN PEOPLE, PRAXIS, PRODIGAL.
Heartless Lullaby, which won the grand prize, is featured on Steam and bears the official vampire: The Masquerade label.
