Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Sony Santa Monica Studio released the PC version of God of War (2018) through Steam and the Epic Games Store. On its first day, the game reached 49,411 simultaneous players on Steam. According to SteamDB, the PC version of the game has reached a new peak with 64,591 players.
These figures are a new record for a PlayStation Studios game released on Steam. The previous record was set by Horizon Zero Dawn, which peaked with 56,557 simultaneous players.
Meanwhile, Matt DeWald, a senior executive in the technical manufacturing department, announced in a recent interview that the game’s PC port had been in development for two years.
