Atlus has officially announced that users who own Persona 5 Royal on PlayStation 4 consoles will not be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version. Instead, players will have to purchase the enhanced version, called Persona 5 Royal, separately.
It’s unclear what new features will be included in the PS5 version. The game already works in 4K with backward compatibility on the PS5. Therefore, the expected upgrades include increasing the frame rate and DualSense support.
Persona 5 Royal is an improved version of Persona 5 released in 2016. This version will feature additional characters, new gameplay features, graphical improvements, and new music.
This improved version of the popular JRPG Persona 5 was released in Japan for PS4 in 2019 and worldwide in March 2020. Persona 5 Royal will debut on October 21, 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
