The EMPRESS group released a broken version of Resident Evil Village earlier today, and players who tested it saw performance issues disappear in the game. So the hang-up problems in some of the places we’ve encountered in resident evil village’s user reviews are due to Capcom’s own DRM.
EMPRESS stated that both Capcom;’s anti-tamper V3 and Denuvo V11 protections are used in the game. “All in-game hangers, such as those that occur when you kill a zombie, have been fixed because we’ve patched the entry points of capcom DRM; In this way, we have made the game a more fluid experience”, the group said in its message.
Those who tested this version say that even the catacomb section of Lady Dimitrescu’s castle is trouble-free.
Capcom chose not to respond to those criticisms, presumably because they knew the problem stemmed from their own DRM. Now that the game is broken, I’m guessing they’ll soon remove both Denuvo and other DRM applications that cause stuttering.
