Pre-orders for playdate, the new handheld console approved by producer Panic, opened on July 29 and more than 20,000 consoles were sold in less than 20 minutes.
The Firewatch publisher has set the number of units to send later in the year. After these were sold, the company continued to receive orders for 2022. According to the company, sales for next year will be adjusted to meet the demand set by pre-orders.
Panic is also preparing to release a free SDK (Software development kit) that will allow more developers to make games for Playdate.
