Sony recently announced that the console has exceeded the 10 million threshold in total with an official announcement on the Playstation 5 sales figure. The console, released last November, is sony’s fastest-selling gaming console. We can say that it is an important achievement that the console, which exceeded the 10 million threshold in the 8-month period, reached these figures despite problems such as pandemic period, production and black market.
Playstation 5 sales announced at 10 million
Sony last announced last June that the console had reached 9 million sales. In other words, we can say that in the intervening month, ps5 sales have increased to over 1 million. With this sales figure, the Playstation 5 console reached the 10 million threshold achieved by the Playstation 4 a month ago.
Sony also shared figures on sales of some of the console’s games, along with the Playstation 5 salesfigure. According to this statement, Spider-Man: Miles Morales has achieved significant success, selling more than 6.5 million copies. Of course, we see that there is no detail on how many of these numbers are on ps4 and how many are on PS4 consoles. MLB: The Show, which also debuted on the Xbox Game Pass system, has sold more than 2 million copies, while Ratchet &clank: Rift Apart has surpassed the one million threshold. Returnal, also developed exclusively for the PS5, has sold more than 560,000 copies so far.
In a statement, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said: “I can’t express our deep gratitude to the passionate PlayStation fans who have embraced PS5, our community and our world-class development partners who have brought such incredible gaming experiences to our platforms. Although the PlayStation 5 has reached more households faster than our previous consoles, we still have a lot of work ahead of us as demand for the console continues to outpace the supply situation.
I want players to know that improving inventory levels remains a top priority for SIE as we continue to face unique challenges affecting our industry and many other industries around the world.”
