The PlayStation 5, which briefly became the center of attention with both its technology and performance at the time of its release, seems to have reflected this in its sales figures. In fact, no matter how much we say or draw about the successful console, we can say that it is inadequate. The console has sold so well that it hasn’t gone unnoticed. The PlayStation 5 has again registered its leadership in this field with its sales figure.
PlayStation 5 sales figures are doing better than expected
Sony and Microsoft are increasingly investing in their next-generation consoles to meet the growing demands in the industry. However, with the details revealed today, Sony is leading this race. According to data from the Finbold research firm, the PlayStation 5 sold 8.6 million units with a unit price tag of $449.99, generating an estimated $3.8 billion in revenue. The company charted the PlayStation 5 sales figure and xbox X/S sales figure.
On the Microsoft front, it’s a little different. The Xbox X/S sold 5.12 million units worldwide with a price tag of $399.99. Both consoles generated a total revenue of $5.92 billion. Considering that $3.8 billion of this revenue came from the PS5, we can say that $2.12 million went into Microsoft’s coffers. On the other hand, it is possible to say that the PS5 sells 3,520,000 more units than the Xbox X/S series.
If we look at the current sales and revenue statistics, we can safely say that Sony is leading the race against Microsoft. The rivalry between Sony and Microsoft is likely to continue to heat up in the coming period.
