The boss in charge of Sony’s PlayStation brand said they haven’t yet finished their attempts to buy more studios around the world. Over the past year, Sony has acquired companies such as Bluepoint Games, Housemarque and Bungie to support its first-party studios. Sony seems to want to continue incorporating studio companies.
Explanations about purchases continue
During a recent briefing, PlayStation president Jim Ryan said that Sony will still strengthen its Playstation Studios roster with new acquisitions. While the information of a new purchase that has yet to be finalized is uncertain, president Ryan has stated that Sony may make new purchases.
Ryan stated that they are active in the field of acquisitions and investment. Speaking about whether they want to buy more companies on behalf of Sony Studios, the PlayStation boss said Sony is definitely trying to expand. “We have not finished our strategy to grow PlayStation Studios inorganically in terms of future acquisitions,” Ryan said.
Then, “As we move to a much broader market reach than we have in our game development strategy, it is very likely that there will be incentives for us to achieve our goals. We will consider M&A activity to replicate our companies to the extent permitted in realizing our strategy and accelerating our path.”
