PlayStationseems to be very insistent on releasing ‘experimental games’ as well as its big projects, which have broken sales records. So much so that a statement from the boss of the company’s gaming department points directly to this issue. According to the latest news, the platform owner, who is increasingly turning to sales-breaking games, made an astonishing announcement that Firewalk, a new studio founded by expert developers from Bungie, has begun an original multiplayer project.
PlayStation aims to expand its range of games
PlayStation has spent much of its past console generation focusing on story-driven single-player games like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima. However, PlayStation Studios boss Herman Hulst told GI.biz that he is determined to come up with new ideas.
Hulst said, “I think the games we make are as different and diverse as possible.” “And you can bet that we will continue to make these games, because these are the heart and soul of what we do in PlayStation studios. But at the same time, we are committed to making these quality experiences and coming up with new ideas.”
While a multiplayer-focused game is the way out for Sony, Hulst says its shift towards more “diverse and diverse” games isn’t all about finding different genres.
“I’m not very interested in creating a different list of titles. In fact, the shape or form they come from is less interesting to me than they are differentiated, diverse and distinctive.”

“We tend to work with teams that have in common with us, and the firewalk team’s ambition fully meets that. At the same time, the fact that the team is a very strong, autonomous and fiercely audacious team… Culturally, it’s a really good match. That’s why we’re more interested in the different and unique experience before we start reducing it to genres or game modes.”
As you know, SIE CEO Jim Ryan recently announced that the PS5 will have much more exclusive games. Ryan said, “We are quietly but steadily investing in high-quality games for PlayStation, and we’re going to make sure the PS5 generation has more exclusive software than ever before.” You can also find our related news at the link below.
