It has been announced that the Pokémon 2023 World Championship will take place in Yokohama, Japan. At the closing ceremony of the 2022 World Championships in London, it was announced that next year’s event will take place in Japan for the first time. This announcement is truly remarkable given the extremely strict COVID-19 restrictions currently in place in the country.
As part of the announcement, The Pokemon Company released a short video starting with Vermillion City, the city in the Pokemon series. No date has been announced for the event. But it’s likely to be a four-day event.
Until 2022, the event was not held in any country outside of North America. This year’s World Championships took place in London, and the next event (2023) will take place in Japan.
