Both mod makers shared messages informing their users that this decision was temporary with the same statements on discord channels belonging to the modes.
In a statement, the TF2 Classic mod makers said:
“Hello, everyone. We share this message to inform you that TF2 Classic mode has been temporarily suspended as a result of our mutual agreement with Valve. This decision is temporary, we will inform you as long as the development is made.”
The Open Fortress Twitter account said in a statement:
” Open Fortress downloads have been disabled as a result of the agreement reached with Valve. This suspension is a temporary decision and new developments will be announced.”
The simultaneous “temporary” deactivation of both game modes and the similarity of messages sent via Twitter by the makers of the modes led to rumors among some players that special pages for these two modes would be opened on Steam for these modes.
