Artistic Director Lisette Titre-Montgomery announced via Twitter that Psychonauts 2 is the highest-rated game ever by the developer team Double Fine. He also noted that it was the team’s best-selling game. Montgomery left the Double Fine studio on April 1.

Montgomery added: “Over the last 4 years, I’ve learned what it means to take on a leadership and creative identity. Thank you for trusting me to bring the world of Psychonauts 2 to life. My leadership in this process resulted in the release of Double Fine’s highest-rated and best-selling game to date.”

Psychonauts 2 debuted on August 25, 2021 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game also came to Xbox Game Pass on the same date.
