Krafton, a South Korea-based gaming company, continues to expand and acquire several studios. In a new move in this direction, Cyberpunk-themed shooter The Ascent developer has announced the acquisition of the Neon Giant team.
Krafton continues to expand
Krafton announced this development as part of its third quarter 2022 earnings report. Neon Giant is currently working on an open-world first-person shooter game that has yet to be announced.
No further details about the purchase were disclosed.
Krafton was founded as Bluehole by Chang Byung-gyu in March 2007. Known for TERA, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and PUBG: NEW STATE, this team rebranded as Krafton Game Union on November 5, 2018.
Neon Giant was founded in 2018 by Tor Frick, Arcade Berg, Jonathan Heckley and Erik Gloersen.
