Control developer Remedy Entertainmenthas previously said it is working on two new projects in partnership with Epic Games, one with AAA as a multi-platform game and the other on a smaller scale. In addition to these two projects, they also reportedly worked on a “live service game” codenamed “Vanguard”.
In its latest business update, the company also talked about the development process for these projects and where they are at. Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said that in addition to working on the three games, the single-player story modes they are working on for CrossfireX and Crossfire HD are progressing well.
Remedy could soon surprise the industry
Virtala said that “Remedy’s AAA gaming project, developed in partnership with Epic Games, will soon go into full production, and the second smaller-scale game will continue in full production mode.” “In vanguard, our free-to-play coop game project, we have now identified many of the key elements of the game. Development is progressing at a good pace, internal game testing is underway and we are starting the next stage, closed external testing.”
Remedy Entertainment was previously a studio that developed “one game at a time”. However, in recent years, with the help of Control’s success, the studio has expanded and increased its staff numbers. This allowed them to develop multiple projects at the same time. Remedy has up to 281 employees by the end of March 2021 and is “trying and evaluating new ways to attract and hire talent,” Virtala said.
Unfortunately, no information has yet emerged about what the new games look like with this report. Crossfire is a long-running FPS game that has managed to make a splash in Asia, but CrossfireX has not yet been announced for PC. For now, it only comes for Xbox Series X and Xbox One. Crossfire HD is a game that is only scheduled to be released in the Chinese region, so it seems that we will not see remedy’s work in this field. Sam Lake, the company’s creative director, said last year that the studio was working on a project that fits the idea of remedyconnected universe. This project may be Alan Wake 2, but it may not be. The names of the games the studio is still working on remain a mystery.
