The Resident Evil Village Playstation 1 version, which has posted a YouTube page, turns the village’s passing areas into Dimitrescu Castle’s 2-pixel Castlevania.
The village’s iconic character, Lady Dimitrescu, is still huge, even in a 2D setting. The opening hours of the Village are probably the most successful part of the game for most players, trying to fend off vampires in a giant maze-like castle, while escaping Dimitrescu, who adorns Mr X’s dreams. This concept reminded another player of Castlevania, and residentvania appeared.
Resident Evil Village playstation 1 version with Residentvania
On the itch.io page of Residentvania mode, the mode’s makers state that the development process took 2 months and they were satisfied with the pixelated version of the game. In the 2D version of Resident Evil: Village,Ethan Winters passes through the devastated village, meets the game’s famous merchant, reaches Dimitrescu Castle and tries to find your way through werewolves, zombies and vampires.
In the mode, sound effects taken from free audio libraries were used instead of the original audio files of the game. Gameplay is simple, cross-platform and kill enemies you encounter on a straight path. The second part of the game takes place in the dungeons of the castle, among the zombie-turned-servants. In the last part, you fight one of Dimitrescu’s daughters and the game is over.
