With lucasfilm games back in action, an old classic is coming up with a new game after the Star Wars projects. Return to Monkey Island, which has caused a lot of excitement for fans and genre-loving players with its recent announcement, has appeared with the first screenshots. Ron Gilbert also made some new statements about the game.
Return to Monkey Island will have a new interface
When we look at the first screenshots released for Return to Monkey Island, which is announced to adopt a modern drawing style, we can get a little hint about this drawing style, although we do not encounter many details. On the other hand, some of the venues where the game will pass have been shared in these screenshots. The description and screenshots made by Ron Gilbert, who was at the beginning of the game, are as follows;
“Yes, there’s point and click. That’s the truth. We do other things in terms of interface, and we have fun doing it and developing things. Obviously, not like Thimbleweed or the interfaces we developed at the time. When Delores came out, we played a lot with the interface and other things and kept improving. An important part of this was, in a way, to protect and improve the species. Not allowing it to be static, we developed it by saying, “Well, that’s what we did thirty years ago, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do these days.”
In a way, it was Thimbleweed Park. So this game, we looked at things that we could do really differently, better and more fluidly, and Dave and I spent a lot of time looking at the interface, “What’s important for people? What are people trying to do?” I don’t want to say exactly what we’re doing yet, but I can definitely say that the interface will be a really fun evolution.”
