A gameplay video was released today for Returnal: Ascension, which was announced last week at a State of Play event dedicated to Japanese producers.
Returnal: Ascension gameplay video released
In the nearly 19-minute gameplay video, we see an even better preview of what’s expanding. To better explain the developing events and watch a preview of the content that we will see in Sisyphus Tower, which is set in the Ascension update, in the video below.
The Tower of Sisyphos is a name given to this new content added in the Ascension update. It was announced that we would work to take it to the next level. Like other modes of this genre, you will eventually fail because the tower you are climbing has literally no end, but if you are playing Returnal even a little before the release of this update, you have already met the construction well.
As you progress through the tower, you will be able to track your best runs, highest stats and achievements throughout the endless challenge. Housemarque promises that each time it will be slightly different from the previous one, since the floors of the tower are procedurally produced, which means that each time you have to encounter different kinds of enemies, treasure rooms and environments.
In a PlayStation Blog post posted when the update was announced, Krueger shared some details about the multipliers mentioned in this video and the developer’s arcade-y roots. Players will need to practice profusely in the Sisyphos Tower if they want to consistently increase their scores and pass their past progress.
