Former Giant Bomb co-founder and editor Jeff Gerstmann stated in a recent Twitch livestream that Mojang is working on another type of Minecraft game.
Gerstmann said of the game: “There’s a new Minecraft game in development. I don’t know if this game is anything to announce at the Microsoft event. This Minecraft game under construction will be in a different genre. Microsoft is currently testing this. I saw the basic description and a few screenshots from the game. The game under development looks like a real-time strategy game.
In the game, you order your units from a third-person perspective. The game includes a story, cutscenes, and more. But the report I saw states that most parts of the game are unfinished.
My guess is that Microsoft won’t announce this anytime soon. Because it seems to be at an early stage.
