In the gaming industry, a large number of developer and publisher studios have been acquired in recent years, and these studios have been grouped under large firms. During this period, Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard and Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media, Take-Two acquired Zynga, and Sony acquired Bungie.
Reporter Dylan Byers, who has worked with NBC News, CNN and Politico, noted in a post in Puck News: “I’ve heard from multiple sources that Electronic Arts wants to go into a acquisition or a merger. EA is in talks with a number of companies. These companies include Disney, Apple, Amazon, NBC Universal and many more.”
EA, on the other hand, contacted Disney a few months ago about licensing agreements. While it’s not clear exactly what this means, it’s likely that we may soon see a merger with this or another company.
