At the request of the Russian government, access to the official STALKER 2 website in Russia was completely blocked. The request to block it was made by the Office of the Attorney General of the Russian Federation.
STALKER 2, developed by Ukraine’s GSC Game World, was also one of the victims of the war for the Russians. When you enter the official website of the game, you see a banner supporting Ukraine. In this respect, it is not difficult to understand why the prosecutor’s office made such a decision, but there are many other studios, digital sales sites, etc., such as this one that sends a message of support to Ukraine. Maybe they’ll treat all high-profile Ukrainian developers the same.
GSC Game World announced in recent weeks that it would move its Kiev studio to Prague because of the war.
STALKER 2 was normally expected to be released in December, but Russia’s invasion of Ukraine changed all plans, and development of the game is currently stalled. Realistically, even the game’s release in 2023 may have been difficult.
The studio said: “We are currently busy helping our employees and families to survive. We had to put game development aside. We’re definitely going to keep going. After the victory. Long live Ukraine”
