Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force announced that total sales of the Samurai Warriors series exceeded eight million copies worldwide.
The series began in 2004 with the release of the original Samurai Warriors for PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
The newest game in the series, Samurai Warriors 5, was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch in Japan on June 24, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch in the west, and worldwide on Steam on July 27. There is already a demo of the game.
